Emerson College, Musical Theatre, Class of '21

Max is a current fourth year undergraduate student at Emerson College in Boston, MA, pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. Originally hailing from Hanoi, Vietnam, Max was adopted, moving to and growing up in Seattle, WA before making his way eastward for college. Outside of his theatrical studies at school, Max has extensive leadership experience. He has led/coordinated the mentorship program for the Performing Arts Department over the last two years. He also currently holds the Co-Chair position for the student taskforce known as POWER (Protesting Oppression With Educational Reform). POWER is a group comprised entirely of BIPOC students at Emerson, dedicated to advancing issues of racial equity and holding the college administration accountable for progress. Max also has extensive experience operating as a member of a team rather than a leader, with years of team sports (basketball and baseball) experience, as well as singing with his high school Jazz Choir (nationally ranked), and working with the dance company at Emerson.

As a budding young professional in the entertainment industry, Max is well aware of the importance of branding, self-advocacy, and networking, and already has extensive experience doing all three. Beyond that, his experience in theatre as well as years of restaurant work as a server have taught him how to actively problem solve and think on his feet, while remaining poised and collected. Max prides himself in his adaptability and enthusiastic drive to commit wholeheartedly to projects and assignments. He hopes to use those qualities in combination with all of the skills above to bring value to whatever entrepreneur he is lucky enough to work with, as well as learn many new things along the way.
