Jean

George Washington University, Double Major in Political Science & History, Class of '21

Jean is a senior at the George Washington University majoring in History and Political Science with a minor in Music. A Korean-American immigrant and first generation college student, Jean currently serves his third year as a Resident Advisor at his university, where he connect, supports, and empowers his residents to make the most of their lives on and off campus. As an RA he has planned dozens of events for groups of various sizes. He works closely with faculty and staff to ensure safety in the residence halls, and has facilitated next steps in emergency situations. After graduating from college, Jean plans to go on to receive a Law Degree.

Jean's passions outside of academics lie in the arts. A self-taught guitarist and singer, Jean is the music director of GWU's all-male A Capella group, Sons of Pitch. As the group's director he led the team to win the 2019 Cherry Blossom competition in Washington DC, getting the chance to sing live on DC local news, as well as during the annual Cherry Blossom Parade. When he is not making music, cinema and fashion surround his life. While his academic studies may be in History and Political Science, Jean wants to eventually enter the world of the arts – whether by starting a fashion line, or getting involved in an indie film.
